Michigan State University Department of Economics hosts Michael Bordo, Board of Governors Professor of Economics, Rutgers University, on November 9, 2018 to speak on “Central Bank Digital Currency and the Future of Monetary Policy.” A number of major central banks over the world are actively exploring the initiation of sovereign digital currencies. In this analysis, Professor Bordo considers how a central bank digital currency (CBDC) can transform all aspects of the  international monetary system and facilitate the systematic and transparent conduct of monetary policy.
