DESCRIPTION:This program will feature panelists from the US Department of Commerce (USDoC)\, private sector companies engaged in African investment\, and African University representatives. The panel will begin with a brief overview of the landscape of US investment in Africa from Robert Telchin (US DoC)\, after which panelists will give brief remarks about their experiences with private sector engagement in Africa. The panelists will then engage in a dialogue with the audience about the potential of innovative partnerships to shape future engagement among African and global universities; private sector investors; non-governmental and governmental actors \nand others to meet global challenges.

World IP day is celebrated every year on April 26 in order to remember the role that intellectual property rights (patents\, trademarks\, industrial designs\, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity. Join us for a half day interactive program discussing how Michigan companies can play in a vital role in the world economy and share their best practices on how they protect their intellectual property. Our three panels will focus on: Packaging Challenges & Opportunities\, IP Issues in E-Commerce\, and Emerging Markets: Best practices for IP issues.
