The International Business Center (IBC)/MSU-CIBER in The Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University was designated in 1990 as a Center for International Business Education and Research Center the U.S. Department of Education (CIBER). The mission of IBC is to leverage our leading-edge knowledge and skills to provide superior education, research, and assistance to businesses, multiplier groups, faculty, and students on issues of national significance for international competitiveness. The International Business Center is funded by: The Title VI B grants through the International and Foreign Language Education Program Office of the U.S. Department of Education, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, The Eli Broad College of Business at MSU, Office of the Provost at MSU, The Office of Research and Graduate Studies at MSU, Libraries, Computing, & Technology at MSU and individual donors.

OUR PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES

  • Global Mindset at the Broad College

    Developing a global mindset among students and faculty at the Broad College is one of the top priorities of IBC/MSU-CIBER. To accomplish this objective, IBC organizes or provides support for Education Abroad Programs and International Business Internships, Business Executives-in-Residence, International Business Student Organization, International Business Case Competition, Research Spotlights Webinar Series, Faculty Development in International Business Programs and Faculty Grants (Research, Curriculum and Professional Development Grants).

  • Community College Initiatives

    IBC provides faculty from Community Colleges and Minority Serving Institutions around the country with the knowledge, experience and resources they need to internationalize general business courses and/or develop specialized international business courses at the two-year college level. IBI programs also focus on non-curricular programs and activities such as Education Abroad Programs and International Internships for students from Community Colleges and Minority Serving Institutions. The programs are held either in person (IBI on the Road) or virtually (Community Colleges Go Global).

  • Academy of International Business (AIB)

  • globalEDGE

  • Global Business Club (GBC)

    Network with regional business and thought leaders actively involved in global trade and stay current on the latest trends and topics in global business through Global Business Club events, webinars, workshops, and speakers.

  • Export Assistance

    IBC offers complementary ongoing activities that serve Michigan’s trade and exporting interests by providing free resources (e.g. Michigan Export Growth Program, ExportMI) to mid-Michigan SMEs to explore overseas markets and to exponentially expand their customer base.
