The 9th Biennial International Business Institute for Community College Faculty is a unique professional development program designed specifically for community and technical college faculty. The aim of the Institute is to provide participants with the knowledge, experience and resources they need to internationalize general business courses and/or develop specialized international business courses at the two-year college level.

World Languages Day allows hundreds of high school students, teachers, administrators, and parents to come to campus to explore a world of languages. Free to all participants, this day-long conference will focus on the experiences that languages offer, and highlight the opportunities available for language and international study at MSU. After an engaging opening plenary session, participants will attend a variety of fun and informational sessions throughout the day.

Dr. Richard Chapas is a Board member for the Center for Sustainable Enterprise at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina. He has worked with academic and industrial experts to develop products directed at the needs of the developing world. He has presented papers throughout the world on sustainable development and innovation. He is on the Executive Committee for the U.S. Business Council for Sustainable Development which leads U.S. businesses in developing projects to drive sustainable solutions, including industrial ecology and ecosystems restoration. He currently serves on the faculty of the University of Delaware, Lerner Business School, where he teaches courses on sustainability and green business.

Are you interested in the future of economic relations between the 2 largest economic powers: the US and China? Are you curious to find out more about issues like currency manipulation and possible trade war? Are you tired of media bias and would you like to learn more about how these issues actually affect the US economy and your life? If you answered yes to any of these questions you should come to the Broad China Business Society's economic debate panel. We will have experts from academia and business discuss the current state of US-China economic relations, its importance, and the possible effects if trade war begins. They will also field audience questions at the end. This event will take place Wednesday evening, November 17 at 7 pm in room 303 of the International Center. Please come and bring friends; it will be a great educational and networking opportunity for those interested in the subject. The event is free and open to everyone and refreshments will be provided.

Dr. Tom Linsmeier, Member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board, will present a research seminar on the Economics, Politics, and Accounting Standard Setting in the Midst of the Global Financial Crisis. The seminar will take place Friday November 5, 2010, 2:45-4:15pm, N100, Business College Complex.

Dr. Kerem Cosar will present a research seminar on Adjusting to Trade Liberalization: Reallocation and Labor Market Policies. Dr. Cosar studies international trade and macroeconomics. His research contributes to the analysis of the short run effects of increased international competition. The Advanced International Business Institute (AIBI) for Community College Faculty is a unique faculty development program. It is designed for community college faculty who have previously attended international business faculty development workshops, seminars, or conferences, as well as faculty who bring previous international business experience to their classrooms, and international business program administrators. Topics to be covered in the AIBI include: classroom tools and course development, developing and maintaining IB programs, and best practices in IB integration. The AIBI will also offer small group breakout sessions for faculty to tackle and resolve their own IB challenges and concerns.

A Research Symposium that Rotates Annually Around the World: Copenhagen Business School, Michigan State University, and University of New South Wales. GMARS aims to promote a "global village" of management accounting research by bringing together a diverse set of the highest-quality research papers, plenary speakers, and researchers from around the world. GMARS will provide a broader appreciation and understanding of the many theoretical perspectives and research methods that are used to study management-accounting practices.
