Since 1990, a consortium of organizations has offered a luncheon speaker series under the auspices of the International Business Forum (IBF) targeted to local academics, public policy makers, and the local business community. The IBF has now become The Global Business Club of Mid-Michigan, with a newly developed focus on global issues of interest to the mid-Michigan business community. The GB Club is dedicated to supporting global business growth tied to Michigan and its diverse corporations. The main activity of the GB Club is the luncheon speaker series.

Mr. John Pearson, Vice President & Executive Director, Capital Choice Partnership, Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, will present "The Changing Face of China - from Pagodas to Cell Towers"

Mr. Tom Quinn, International Trade Specialist, Canadian Consulate General, will give an overview of the regional economy, and a chronological account of what transpired at the US-Canadian border and how some of these issues were dealt with.

Gladson Remos, Director of Business Development, Caco Pacific Corporation will present "International Joint Ventures: Cautions for US Entrepreneurs."

Richard Corson, Director, Pontiac U.S. Export Assistance Center will present "Overcoming Export Barriers."

The weekend of the conference is filled with stimulating debate as well as social activities and an opportunity to interact with other students from around the nation. We feature specialized committees and crisis simulations as well as a General Assembly.

The purpose of this invitational conference was to reflect on the role of study abroad programs for business students and to share perspectives and experiences about a variety of issues with respect to study abroad. A group of 24 national experts on study abroad programs were commissioned to author white papers on different aspects of study abroad programs.

These presenters are top academic research scholars and teaching professionals, as well as seasoned veterans from the international business arena. The International Business Institute for Community College Faculty and its sponsors hope these efforts will help two-year institutions prepare their students for our increasingly more global future.
