He previously served as president of the Great Midwestern Ice Cream Company and participated in the Iowa Business and Education Roundtable for five years before switching careers. He wrote the book, Schools Cannot Do It Alone and now speaks nationally encouraging educators, business leaders and community groups to work together to build successful schools.
