This full day conference will present expert analysis of issues and trends in international trade, with breakout sessions to examine trade impacts on the environment, human health and economic development. The conference will focus on Trade and Economic Development, featuring speakers from a variety of governmental agencies and corporations.

Mr. Sjoberg's presentation will outline how to build and grow a foreign subsidiary in Michigan (SSAB is located in Mason, Michigan). It is a story of a Swedish company coming to the U.S. in 1997 (Sweden is ranked #3 on global competitiveness in the world). He will touch on reasons why SSAB selected Michigan as its location, along the way discussing the initial groundbreaking to the finished plant to quadrupling in size in the last five years.

Presented by John W. MacIlroy, President and Chief Executive Officer, Michigan Manufacturers Association. As American manufacturing emerges from a long, difficult recession, leaders are recognizing important new realities. The recession suggested structural change, reflecting a mix of global and domestic challenges. Mr. MacIlroy will share insights into policy agenda for MMA and talk about where it's heading from both a "structural reality" and policy basis.

Dr. Jang currently serves as a member of the board of directors and executive committee of Global Corporate Governance Academic Network, which is supported by the Global Corporate Governance Forum of the World Bank. In this presentation, he will speak on the impacts the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis had on Corporate Governance.
