The purpose of this conference is to bring together faculty and staff who have dealt with these challenges at a variety of schools, to share their experiences and disseminate STSA ideas and best practices and to think about the lasting impressions generated by STSA programs. Whether you are an experienced STSA practitioner or just contemplating the challenges of implementing a short-term program, we hope you will find the agenda compelling. We are confident that the presentations, panels, and networking opportunities with experienced practitioners will leave you with a better understanding of your role in planning, administering, directing, and/or facilitating short-term study abroad programs.
Sunday Jun. 6 - Jun. 9

MSU-CIBER and the Leverhulme Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP) are co-sponsoring a conference on "International Trade: Firms and Workers," to be held at the University of Nottingham June 24 "25, 2010. This conference is a follow-up to a workshop on "Testing Trade Models with Labor Market Heterogeneity," hosted by the Research Institute of Industrial Economics in December 2008. Eighteen months hence, projects that emerged from that initial meeting are beginning to take shape and will be presented in Nottingham. Colleagues from Michigan State and Nottingham will be joined by researchers from the University of Oregon, University of California at San Diego, Columbia University, University of London, University of Copenhagen, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, and Koc University.

Professor Yves Doz has published path-breaking research on the strategy and organization of multinational companies, particularly in high technology industries, most notably including The Multinational Mission: Balancing Local Demands and Global Vision, co-authored with C.K. Prahalad (1987) and From Global to Metanational: How Companies Win in the Knowledge Economy co-authored with José Santos and Peter Williamson, two INSEAD colleagues (2001). The latter book showed how companies can mobilize dispersed knowledge to learn from the world. His research on strategic alliances has been summarized in Alliance Advantage, co-authored with Gary Hamel (1998).
