A number of organizations provide funding, resources, and support for the operations of the MSU International Business Center and to collaborate with our world-leading international business faculty. We are very grateful for their support. Each is listed below with a description of the organization and our relationship. As we continually seek funding, we encourage individuals and organizations to contact us to explore possible partnership opportunities.


Ford manufactures and distributes automobiles in 200 countries, has about 300,000 employees, and 108 plants worldwide. Ford provides generous funding for IBC's education abroad activities, and Ford has representation on the MSU-CIBER Advisory Council.

The Chrysler Foundation

The Chrysler Foundation is unique in the automotive industry, with a product portfolio that ranges from small cars to sports cars and luxury sedans; and from versatile vans to heavy duty trucks or comfortable coaches. IBC receives generous funding from The Chrysler Foundation for its education abroad operations.


GM has been the industry sales leader since 1931. Founded in 1908, GM today employs about 325,000 people, has manufacturing operations in 32 countries, and sells vehicles in 200 countries. GM provides generous funding for IBC's education abroad activities, and GM representatives serve on the MSU-CIBER Advisory Council.

East Michigan District Export Council

EMDEC Members are leaders from the local business community whose knowledge of international business provides a source of professional advice for local firms. EMDEC currently has representatives from academic institutions; government offices; law and accounting firms; and the banking, manufacturing, computer, and high-tech industries.

Michigan District Export Council - West

MDEC West works in conjunction with the U.S Commercial Service to demystify and to promote exports of West Michigan and Upper Peninsula businesses. MDEC West is an all-volunteer board whose members represent a broad range of business capabilities, including sales and marketing, distribution, legal, financial, risk mitigation, logistics and related areas.

Lansing Community College

Lansing Community College (LCC) is a public two-year college located four blocks from the Michigan State Capitol Building. LCC serves almost 40,000 students each year (with students from more than 125 countries in the lasy four years). IBC collaborates with LCC on the Global Business Club of Mid-Michigan and the IB Institute.

Meritor, Inc.

As a premier global supplier of integrated systems, modules and components to the transportation and industrial sectors, Meritor is committed to customer satisfaction and to the communities in which we live and conduct business. IBC receives generous funding from Meritor, Inc. Charitable Trust Fund for education abroad scholarships.

Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development: International Marketing Program

MDARD's International Marketing Program organizes and implements activities such as export seminars, buyers' missions, trade missions, and Michigan Pavilions at selected domestic and international trade shows. These and other activities assist Michigan food and agriculture businesses in developing trade opportunities to effectively export their products and achieve economic growth.


CIBERweb provides information about the CIBER network and all thirty CIBERs products. The products vary from workshops to conferences to publications to online resources. IBC and MSU-CIBER are the developers of (which serves as the "web hub" for all CIBERs.)

US Commercial Service

With its network of offices across the United States and in more than 80 countries, the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce utilizes its global presence and international marketing expertise to help U.S. companies sell their products and services worldwide. American Marketing Association

The American Marketing Association has 38,000 members worldwide (including 3,000 academics). For over six decades the AMA has been the leading resource in the marketing profession. MSU-CIBER provides international content from globalEDGE™ to AMA's member-only portal

Academy of International Business

Established in 1959, AIB is the leading association of international business scholars, with over 3000 members in more than 70 different countries. MSU's International Business Center is the headquarters of AIB, and globalEDGE™ resources are integrated into

MSU Ciber

The U.S. Department of Education provides funding to schools to support activities related to U.S. trade and competitiveness. MSU-CIBER has been designated a national "Center for International Business Education and Research" since 1990, with partial funding supporting globalEDGE™.

Broad College Of Business MSU

The Eli Broad College of Business is one of the largest business schools in the world with an enrollment of over 5,000 students and an alumni network of close to 60,000 in 88 countries. MSU-CIBER receives significant funding and support by the Broad College.

Michigan State University

As the pioneer land-grant institution, MSU has been advancing knowledge and transforming lives since 1855. MSU is a member of the Association of American Universities and the Big Ten athletic conference. MSU-CIBER receives significant funding and support by the MSU Provost's Office.

Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce

With over 2000 chamber members, the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce facilitates area economic development through the support of existing business and the attraction of new businesses. MSU-CIBER works with the Lansing Chamber as a part of the Global Business Club of Mid-Michigan.

The Greater Lansing Business Monthly

Started in 1987 by local entrepreneur Chris Holman, The Greater Lansing Business Monthly has promoted and supported local companies by providing a forum for ideas and by informing members of the local community of the products and services given by businesses in the Lansing area. Each issue is centered on a common theme and is delivered to all non-residential addresses in the vicinity.

Lansing Economic Area Partnership

The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (Leap) is a collaboration of Lansing area businesses, executives, elected official, non-profit organization leaders, and university presidents who have united to further Lansing in the global marketplace. Their goal is to increase Mid-Michigan's efficiency while it is competing for people, jobs, and investment.

Port Lansing

Port Lansing, officially known as Foreign Trade Zone no. 275, is the only official US Port of Entry in Mid-Michigan for foreign goods. A Foreign Trade Zone is a place where foreign goods can clear customs through U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In Port Lansing, international businesses can do this locally and save money on duties, while avoiding congested hubs such as Detroit or Chicago. Located next to Capital Region International Airport and a CSX rail-line, Port Lansing is able to take care of most international shipping needs.

Capital Region International Airport

The Capital Region International Airport services thousands of tons of cargo and hundreds of thousands of passengers each year through Delta, United, and Northwest Airlines. Located nest to Michigan State University, one of the world's premier research and academic institutions, and the State Capitol and government of Michigan, the airport is located in a convenient location for businesses and executives.

Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection Program

The Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection (A-CAPP) is the first and preeminent academic body focusing upon the complex global issues of anti-counterfeiting and product protection of all products, across all industries, in all markets and strategies to work effectively to detect, deter, and respond to the crime.

Michigan Economic Development Corporation

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation is a public-private partnership serving as the state's marketing arm and lead agency for business, talent and jobs. tourism , film and digital incentives , arts and cultural grants, and overall economic growth. IBC partners with MEDC on several projects including increasing the global competence of Michigan's small and medium sized companies that often have resource and knowledge constraints in exporting and international trade.

Michigan Business Network

The Michigan Business Network is the leading internet resource for Michigan business news, and serves as a hub of business communication and information for the entire Michigan business community. In addition to a 24/7 internet radio streaming broadcasts with shows featuring business news, legislative updates, profiles, marketing, technology, event planning, and more, MBN has a statewide business event calendar, business reports, and PodCasts of interviews with Michigan's business leaders.
